WeBox - How to enable SD Card (Secure Digital Card) and read data from it?

Hello and Welcome to WeGuard Enterprise Visual Knowledge-base Series.
In this KB article, We will explain the procedure to read data from an SD card in the device.

  • Login to WeGuard Console with valid credentials.
  • From the left navigation menu, click on "Policy Groups”.
  • You will notice a list of policy groups, Select any policy, Here Default Android Kiosk is selected as shown below.

  • By default in any policy, reading data from an SD card is restricted for security purposes. Enable option by going to Policy Group > Policy > Security > Disable Physical Media Mounting.

  • Now Toggle OFF and click the Save & Continue tab and close the window.

  • Now from the left navigation menu, click on "WeBox”.
  • Now select the policy group to which you would like to enable the SD card option and give access to device users to read data from the SD card. In this case, the Default Android Kiosk policy group is selected.

Note: You will see all the groups/policies available in your account. Select only the group/policy you want to share the documents with.
  • Click on settings button (cogwheel icon) and enable SD card as shown below and save.

  • Upon saving the configurations, you will be redirected to the group page where you can start adding files. Please look at the picture below.
  • From the drop down, select SD Card.

  • Click on the "+" button to add a storage path.

  • You will have to provide the path at which the files are located on the SD card.

  • Remember to provide the path until the files are placed. The structure should be like a Root Folder/Sub-Root folder.
  • Files that are under the Sub-Root folder will be shown to the user.
  • In the picture below, files are placed under the Training Materials folder, hence the path is just mentioned as Training Materials.

  • Clicking on "Add" should navigate back to the groups page.

  • On the device, click on the WeBox app. It will ask to enter a passcode, if enabled. Else you should not see the passcode option.

  • Notice the SD Card section in WeBox (as enabled on the console in above steps).

  • Click on SD Card to view the permitted folders. As an example, Training Materials is added, hence the same is seen.
  • Click on it to view the files.
