How to Restrict Wallpaper Changes on Android Devices

Administrators can prevent users from modifying the wallpaper on managed Android devices via the WeGuard Console. Enforcing this restriction ensures a consistent corporate identity, maintains a professional device appearance, and prevents unauthorised personalisation.

Implementation Steps

Follow these steps to disable wallpaper modifications:

  1. Access the Console: Log in to your WeGuard Console

  2. Select Policy: Navigate to Policy Groups on the left sidebar and select the specific policy you wish to update.

  3. Locate Advanced Settings: Click on the Advanced tab within the policy configuration.

  4. Toggle Restriction: Find the option labelled ‘Disable Wallpaper Change’.

  5. Save Changes: Switch the toggle to ON, then click SAVE AND CONTINUE at the bottom of the page.

Result: Once the policy syncs, the wallpaper setting on the managed devices will be greyed out or inaccessible, preventing any further user-initiated changes.

Best Practices

  • Set the Wallpaper First: We recommend setting a Global Wallpaper in the "Device Settings" tab before enabling this restriction to ensure all devices display the correct corporate branding.

  • Verify OS Compatibility: This feature is generally supported on Android 7.0 and above. Ensure your managed fleet meets the minimum OS requirements for consistent enforcement.
