How do I enable the Time Fence?

WeGuard's time fencing feature improves security by controlling device access during designated times, blocking unwanted use, and protecting private information. It establishes device usage limits based on scheduled timetables to guarantee adherence to company standards and legal obligations. By reducing distractions during work hours, it enhances efficiency and focus, which in turn increases production.
WeGuard enables users to choose the applications and time limits they wish to use each day based on their own preferences. This allows users to set time fencing limits for specific days of the week.
Administrators can enable or disable time fencing based on their requirements, providing flexibility and tailored control.

Pre-requisites

Android devices must be running Android 9.0 or later versions and must be provisioned as Device Owner

Process to enable Time Fencing through the WeGuard Enterprise Portal

  1. Login to the WeGuard Console.
  2. Select a policy by clicking on Policy Groups.

  1. Navigate to Time Fencing and turn on the Time Fencing Policy toggle.

  1. Once enabled, the administrator can select the limits, hours, and days that apply to the devices.
For example, restrictions can be set on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

  1. The administrator has to choose each day separately, apply time fencing if necessary, and then click "Save and Continue."
To apply the same limits on all days, the administrator should set up the restrictions on Monday and then select "Copy to All Days."

On iOS devices, as of now we don't have the option to enforce the restrictions as in Android section. We can only Disable/Enable Applications.

The applications that are installed through the policy can either be enabled or disabled during the time frame:
  1. Disabling the applications:
    1. The administrator must choose the relevant checkbox and provide the required duration in order to disable a program.
    2. With this option, the application will be kept enabled at all other times and disabled for the duration of the chosen interval.
  2. Enabling the applications(applicable for android only):
    1. To enable an application during a specific timeframe and disable it at other times, the admin must first disable the application in the App Management section(refer to the steps to disable the applications), then uncheck the checkbox in the time-fencing settings.
    2. This setting will enable the application during the specified timeframe while keeping it disabled at all the other times.
  1. Once the necessary changes are made, click on Save and Continue to impose the policy on the devices.

As and when devices are synced with the policy, WeGuard checks device time and applies the policy restrictions of Time Fencing.
