How do I enable the Time Fence?
WeGuard’s Time Fencing feature enhances device security by controlling device access during designated time periods. It helps prevent unauthorized or unnecessary device usage while ensuring that sensitive information remains protected.
With Time Fencing, administrators can define device usage schedules to ensure compliance with organizational policies and operational requirements. By restricting device usage during non-working hours, it helps reduce distractions and improves productivity and focus during working hours.
WeGuard also allows administrators to select specific applications and set daily usage time limits based on their requirements. Additionally, time fencing schedules can be configured for specific days of the week, offering greater flexibility in managing device access.
Administrators can easily enable or disable the Time Fencing feature as needed, allowing them to maintain flexible and customized control over device usage.
Configuring Time Fencing
- Login to the WeGuard Console.
- Click on Policies and select the Policy.
- Navigate to Time Fencing and turn on the Time Fencing Policy toggle.
- Once enabled, the administrator can select the limits, hours, and days that apply to the devices.
For example, restrictions can be set on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- To apply the same limits on all days, the administrator should set up the restrictions on Monday and then select "Copy to All Days."
- Then click on "Changes Pending/Save" and review the changes and click on "Confirm and Save."
On iOS devices, as of now we don't have the option to enforce the restrictions as in Android section. We can only Disable/Enable Applications.
The applications that are installed through the policy can either be enabled or disabled during the time frame:
- Disabling the applications:
- The administrator must choose the relevant checkbox and provide the required duration in order to disable a program.
- With this option, the application will be kept enabled at all other times and disabled for the duration of the chosen interval.
- Enabling the applications (applicable for Android only):
- To enable an application during a specific timeframe and disable it at other times, the admin must first disable the application in the App Management section (refer to the steps to disable the applications) and then uncheck the checkbox in the time-fencing settings.
- This setting will enable the application during the specified timeframe while keeping it disabled at all the other times.
- Once the necessary changes are made, click on "Changes Pending/Save" and review the changes and click on "Confirm and Save."
As and when devices are synced with the policy, WeGuard checks device time and applies the policy restrictions of Time Fencing.
