How do I disable applications on Android Devices?
WeGuard allows administrators to disable specific applications on managed devices to improve security, productivity, and device control. By restricting access to unnecessary or potentially risky apps, organizations can better protect sensitive data and ensure devices are used according to company policies.
Through the WeGuard portal, IT administrators can remotely enable or disable applications without needing physical access to the device. Additionally, WeGuard supports app whitelisting and blacklisting, helping organizations control which apps are allowed or restricted to maintain a secure and streamlined mobile environment.
Disabling applications
Click on "Policies" and choose the policy.
Go to App Management and find Disable.
Upon clicking the Add Apps option, options will be shown.
Managed App: It allows you to add managed applications to the disabled list, which includes applications added to the Play Store under the policy.
Custom Apps: It lets you disable the applications that are not added to the policy.
If the admin wants to disable the new application for the user, the admin has to click on Custom App, enter the app name and package ID of the application, and then click on Add.
The disabled option will be toggled ON by default
If the admin wants to disable the application from the available apps in the policy, the admin has to click on custom apps, then add the app name and package ID that you want to disable.
- Once you click on Save, you can see the custom app added to the disabled list. Click on Save to impose the policy on the devices.
- At the device end, the application will appear disabled or greyed out, as shown below.
- The custom alert message displayed below appears when the user attempts to access the disabled applications.
