The “where”s of corporate devices, solved!
WeGuard helps in locating your corporate devices, through the centralised EMM console, thus helping IT personnel efficiently find out any of the devices that the corporate wants to find right from the comfort of the home/office. Not just that, WeGuard also provides a way to track the history of the device. While the devices being tracked WeGuard also captures lock/unlock events.
Let's see how this works.
Login to WeGuard Console
Go to Policy Groups, notice the list of policy groups. For the first time, you may see default policies.
To add/update tracking configuration, click on kiosk or work managed policy. In this article we will be considering Kiosk policy.
Go to policy tab and make sure Location settings is ON.
Go to "Track" tab to enable tracking and add tracking configuration. Notice "Track" option is unchecked by default.
To enable tracking, click on the check box. Once enabled, by default device location will be captured for every 10 min. You may proceed to change the frequency from the drop down list (1min, 10min, 30min, 1hr).
While tracking the device, you can also capture lock/unlock events. Meaning, whenever the device is unlocked, the unlock event and location of unlock will be captured.
This gives a clear picture to the administrator when & where exactly the device is unlocked from kiosk mode and when & where it is locked again. This is possible only when Events is enabled.
After adding tracking configuration save the policy.
Lets now see how and where to view location history of a device,
On left menu, click on "WeTrack"
In order to track devices location at group level, select group name from the "Select Groups" drop down list.
All the devices in the selected group would appear on the map according to the latest (or last known) location.
Selected a group that has 3 devices. Notice the locations of 3 devices on the map.
Mouse hover-over location pin will show DeviceID (IMEI or Serial#)
Clicking on the location pin would give complete details of the device. Refer to the picture below.
Clicking on "View" will navigate you to the device details page.
While clicking on "Track" will show track of locations of the device for the current day.
Location pins at similar locations are grouped as clusters. Count "116" refers to the 116 location stamps. Clicking on cluster will show all 116 location pins.
By default the current day's location will be shown. However, the admin can select any other day.
