How Do I Lock/Unlock the Device?

With WeGuard, administrators may put their employees' devices in kiosk mode and give them a distraction-free work environment. However, IT managers might want to examine settings and app data when diagnosing or debugging a problem. There are several ways to temporarily unlock user devices on the platform.

There are two methods for unlocking from kiosk mode:
(a) via the WeGuard console, by Admin.
(b) from the device by the user (password-protected online and offline
).

Un-kiosk the Device.

By Admin from WeGuard console:

  • Login to the WeGuard Console.

  • Navigate to Devices, search, and then click on the Device ID



  • Click on the Kiosk Unlock button in the mobile image under Actions.

    Make sure the device is online, in order to perform kiosk unlock



  1. The device will now be out of kiosk mode. To lock it back into that mode, click the Kiosk lock button on the mobile image.

By end user from the device:

  • Click the lock icon in the bottom left corner of the screen to unlock the device from KIOSK mode.




    Notes
    Note: If the unlock icon is not visible on the home page, you can enable it by going to policy > General settings > Show 'unlock icon' in home page, selecting it, clicking save and continue. On the home page, the unlock symbol ought to be present.

  • After entering the KIOSK unlock passcode, click OK.



  • The end user will be able to access the device as a normal one, as it has been unlocked. 


  • To lock the device back in Kiosk mode, go to the WeGuard application from the apps section, and the device will return to Kiosk mode.


Kiosk Unlock Password

  • Navigate to Policies and select the policy that the assigned device falls under.



  • Select the Security tab in the policy and locate the Kiosk unlock password, then click on the eye icon to reveal the password.
