Finding the Package ID (APK ID) and Enabling a System Application

System applications are pre-installed applications that are available on the device by default. WeGuard allows administrators to add these applications to a policy so they can be managed and made available on enrolled devices.

To manually add a system application to a policy, you must first identify its Package ID (APK ID) from a managed device. This article explains how to find the Package ID (APK ID) of a system application and then use it to manually add the application to a policy in the WeGuard Console.


Finding the Package ID (APK ID) of a System Application

  • Log in to the WeGuard Console.

  • Navigate to Devices and select the required device.




  • Go to the Apps section and select System Apps. A list of all installed system applications will be displayed.

  • Locate the required application from the list.




  • View or copy the Package ID (APK ID) displayed for the application.




Example:

Calculatorcom.android.calculator2
Chromecom.android.chrome
Gmailcom.google.android.gm
Notes
The Package ID (APK ID) is unique to each application and is case-sensitive. Ensure that you copy it exactly as displayed before manually adding the application to a policy.

Enabling System Application


  • Log in to the WeGuard Console.

  • Navigate to Policies and select the required Policy.




  • Go to the App Management section and open the ‘System’ tab.




  • Click "+ Add System App" and select "Add Manually."




  • Enter the App Display Name and Package ID / APK ID, then click Add System App.




  • Once the application has been added, click Save, Review Changes, and then select Confirm and Save to apply the policy.

Once the policy is saved, the selected system application will be available according to the policy configuration on the enrolled devices.
