How to disable the Developer option in Android devices?

The Developer option on Android devices is meant for advanced users and developers. They offer features like USB debugging for app development, adjusting animations, and controlling background processes that help with debugging, testing, and optimising apps.

Enabling the developer option on Android devices can have disadvantages like security vulnerabilities, misuse potential, device instability, app compatibility, data loss or corruption, warranty loss, IT overhead, policy violations, privacy concerns, and compliance issues.

To ensure security and compliance, organisations often disable the Developer Option on work devices.


Prerequisites:

Android devices must be running Android 6.0 or later versions and must be provisioned as Device Owner

Procedure for disabling the Developer option from the WeGuard Enterprise Portal:

  1. Login to the WeGuard Console.
  2. Click on Policy Groups and choose the Policy.


  1. Go to General, and find Disable Developer Option.

  1. Toggle it ON and click on the SAVE AND CONTINUE button to impose the policy on devices.
