Adding Web Clip on an iOS Device

Adding Web Clip on an iOS Device

Web clips allow you to add shortcuts to the Home Screen of managed iPhone and iPad devices through the WeGuard. These shortcuts provide users with quick and convenient access to frequently used websites, webpages, or actions directly from their devices.

For example, administrators can configure a Web Clip with a phone number (using the format tel://12345678910) to enable one-tap access to a support desk or add the WeGuard Support portal link https://support.weguard.com to provide quick access to online support resources from the device Home Screen.

Adding Web Clip

  • Log in to the WeGuard Console.

  • Navigate to Policies and select the required policy.

  • Navigate to “Web Clips” and click on the “+ Add Web Clip” button.

  • Assign the label for the shortcut and add the URL in the given space.

  • Once the required settings are set, click on Add Clip. Then click Save, Review Changes, and select Confirm and Save.

  • The Web Clip will be added to the device's Home Screen automatically.

NotesIf you manage the Safari app, you must do the following:
  • If Safari is hidden but not restricted, Safari opens the URL in the Web Clip and the user can open additional tabs.

  • If Safari is hidden and restricted, you must have the Web Clip open in full-screen mode. Because Safari is restricted, the user can’t open additional tabs.
